Bridgewater Lacrosse - Promoting the Sport of Lacrosse in Central New Jersey

Additional Program Information

Email
We ask that everyone provide us with an email address. We communicate many of our memos and updates through email that players and parents are responsible for.

If correspondence by email is difficult for you, please let us know so that we can make alternate arrangements to contact you.

Parental Support
This program continues to grow due in large part to the outstanding group of parents that have been involved. We are sure that many of our new parents will be surprised at what a tight-knit family oriented program this is. The overall success of our program is entirely dependent on your support.

Please read carefully the following suggestions on how you can positively impact not only your own child's life, but our program as well.

  1. Be supportive of your child by giving encouragement and showing an interest in his team.
  2. Attend games whenever possible. If you cannot attend, ask how your child did, not whether the team won.
  3. Be a positive role model by displaying good sportsmanship at all times to coaches, referees, opponents, and teammates.
  4. Let your child set his own goals and play the game for him.
  5. Let the Coach coach.
  6. Respect the decisions of the referee.
  7. Read the rulebook. A full understanding of the rules will help you enjoy the game and educate others.
  8. Get to know the coaches, parents, and others involved in the program.
  9. Get involved. See the suggestions for volunteering below.
  10. Sit back and enjoy the game. Remember, lacrosse is played for FUN!

NOTE: A very well written publication called "A Parents Guide to Youth Lacrosse" is available from US Lacrosse.

Rutgers University Trip
Every year we take a trip to see the Rutgers University Men's Lacrosse Team play one of its Division I rivals in Piscataway. The trip usually includes a brief tour of the facilities and a speech from the Coach. Admission for our youth team is free. Parents and coaches are required to purchase tickets (~$8.00 each). We will carpool to the game, but every player must have a chaperon at the game. Other family member and friends who are not on the team are more than welcome to join us. This is a great opportunity to see Men's Lacrosse played at a very high skill level, including the play of several Bridgewater High School graduates who are on currently on the team.

Girl's Junior Lacrosse
If you are not aware, Bridgewater has a growing Girl's Youth Lacrosse Program. It is a well-run program that is supporting our teams at the Middle School and the High School. For more information please call the Recreation Deptartment at (908) 725-6373.
